Whopper Lust - The Burger King Spot The Reminds Me of Futurama

So for those of you not in the ad community, Burger King decided to change creative agencies.   The agency that was on the way out CP+B decided to take a bit of a swan song approach to their ending assignment.   CP+B has always represented disruptive and fun innovation in advertising.   They are one of the cooler agencies out their from a creative perspective and it appears they had some fun with BK!

So for the final assignment on Burger King they have officially replicated the show from Futurama called HYPNOTOAD.  A show in futurama that does nothing but play a frog sitting their getting all trippy.   CP+B has made a channel on direct tv that shows nothing more than a spinning whopper and the longer the watch the more free whoppers you get.    i heart CP+B.

After 5 minutes of watching i must admit that I want a whopper like whoa!

Furniture Fix DR Spot With "Sumo Wrestlers" - LOLZ

As some of you might know I am somewhat obsessed with the "Creative" assets of TV dr spots.   I mean these spots are usually so epically priceless in their snake oil salesmanship that I kinda can't stop being amused.

The last one I focused on was Pajama Jeans.  The name says it all.    But now I have a new one that is making me giggle.   FURNITURE FIX!

So what do I love about this products DR spots?  Fake Sumo Wrestlers.   lolz.   Check it out.   

I just wish I was a fly on the wall for this shoot.

DIRECTOR
"Ok ok ok lets get sumo wrestlers to show how tough our product is!"

PRODUCER
"Great idea bob but we would have to fly them in from japan and thats expensive!"

DIRECTOR
"Ok well what if we got 2 fat guys and told people they were sumo wrestlers"

PRODUCER
"Great idea bob but will they be believable as sumo wrestlers?!??"

DIRECTOR
"Fair point lets put on eye liner so they have eyes that are squinty looking to make them appear asian and give them the sumo hair buns"

PRODUCER
"GREAT IDEA!   One of the guys is black but with that eye liner I can't tell anymore!"

This is such a great coop marketing creative. Brisk and Machete should be applauded for their efforts. I love the spot and the tie in is completely awesome.

So this target spot is defintely my favorite so far this holiday season.    You don't know what is going on and you almost expect it to be another auto spot but then...he is running into Target.  PRICELESS
